The Santa Cruz County Regional Transportation Commission has received permission to go ahead with several projects on Highway 1 in the county.
Approval of environmental impact and assessment studies mean the RTC can now move forward with building auxiliary lanes between Soquel Drive and 41st Avenue as well as a bicycle and pedestrian crossing at Chanticleer Avenue.
Future plans call for adding high-occupancy lanes to Highway is a means of reducing congestion along the busy thoroughfare.
