1 person suffered major injuries in a Highway 1 accident this afternoon. The 1:40 p.m. incident occurred on the southbound side of the highway, just north of Bay Avenue, when the driver lost control of the subcompact car, and it hit a utility pole. The injured person was transported to Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz.
