A woman accused of misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter has been given a date for a preliminary hearing. 58-year-old mary ellen miller, (a former santa cruz metro bus driver), is accused of being at fault when she struck a pedestrian in Watsonville last february. 79-year-old Salvador chipres later died from his injuries. miller is scheduled to return to court on march 29th. Meanwhile, she is also facing a civil suit, along with the santa cruz metro transit district. chipres’ family is seeking to recover more than 400-thousand dollars.
