Healthy Californians asked to Volunteer 04-21-20 15:45 DC

California officials yesterday (Tuesday) announced a new program to encourage healthy Californians to volunteer in their communities as the state continues to deal with the coronavirus pandemic.

Under the program, called Californians for All, state officials are asking healthy residents to sign up online and say how they would like to help.

Some options are donating blood, supporting nonprofits, checking on their neighbors, and delivering meals to seniors in need.

As of Tuesday afternoon, there were nearly 34,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases in California and at least 1,229 deaths related to the virus.

Meanwhile, Gov. Gavin Newsom said that he would give an update today (Wed) on how the state is doing on the six criteria he said will help officials determine when to reopen California.
