State health officials are warning Californians who plan to wear costume contact lenses this Halloween. Decorative lenses bought online or in a costume store tend to be packaged in non-sterile solutions, which could lead to allergic reactions. Other risks include infection and blindness. Public health officials say the safest way to wear any contact lenses is to be fitted for them by an eye doctor.
