An injured, red-tailed hawk that had the central coast and bay area on the lookout last week, was captured on saturday, and is recovering in san jose. Members of the Monterey-based group Wild-Rescue had headed up the effort to find the bird, which had a framing nail through its skull. The juvenile hawk was captured at san Francisco botanical gardens. The nail has been removed; the hawk is being treated at the wildlife center of silicon valley. (in san jose) A reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever is responsible has been raised, to 10-thousand dollars.
