The SPCA of Monterey County released a hawk today (Monday) back into its natural habitat following over two months of care under their watch.
The red-tailed hawk was discovered by the SPCA in late December in Seaside with a left wing drooping at the shoulder.
A veterinarian was able to perform surgery, the hawk needed 20 days to heal and was introduced to an outdoor enclosure to reintroduce its native skills such as flying and hunting.
Anyone who encounters wildlife in distress is encouraged to report it to the SPCA of Monterey County by calling 831.264.5427, or by contacting Native Animal Rescue for those in Santa Cruz County.
