A Santa Cruz man has been convicted of a hate crime that took place last July in Santa Cruz. Ole Hougen, who has prior convictions for similar crimes in other states, slashed at a Black man, and then when Santa Cruz Police officers arrived on the scene Hougen said he only wanted a “white person to help” take him into custody. Hougen’s conviction was in a Federal Court.
