On Friday, A multi-vehicle collision snarled traffic on Highway 1 Southbound.
The incident took place shortly after 1 PM following a truck needing to make an emergency stop on the shoulder lane just south of Harkins Slough.
The truck was hauling a disk harrow that broke and sparked a fire.
As a result, three vehicles halted to a complete stop, however a Ford Transit vehicle driver failed to do so, and a “chain reaction traffic collision” occurred.
The four drivers involved were injured and sent to local hospitals.
While the investigation is ongoing, drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor.
