A 21-year-old man was arrested in Greenfield on Saturday, who authorities say is a known gang member. Derick Martin Barajas was taken into custody at 11:30 p.m., after leading Monterey County Sheriff’s Deputies on a foot chase. Deputies say Barajas threw away a loaded handgun during the pursuit, and that when they caught him, they found methamphetamine packaged for sale. He was booked into Monterey County Jail on several charges.
