The Salinas-based car design company “green vehicles” has announced that it is closing. Green vehicles was set to be an electric-car manufacturer, however no vehicles were ever produced by the company, (which received more than 500-thousand dollars from the city of salinas). The grants were part of an effort to lure the company from its san jose headquarters in 2009. the company’s founder cited a lack of investors, (and capitol), as the reason for the company’s closure. The city of salinas is expected to try to recover some of its investment, however the company is now defunct.
