Gray Whale Washes Up on West Cliff Dr. in SC 05-21-20 03:01 DC

The Santa Cruz Fire Department said the body of a gray whale washed up along West Cliff Drive. The giant whale – which can reach 49 feet in length — washed up against the rocky shore not far from a parking lot.

The Pelagic Shark Research Foundation said no sharks that might have killed the whale were seen in the area. There were also no signs of killer whale predation of the dead whale.

The fire department said lifeguards helped move the whale from where its body was discovered.
