The Santa Cruz County Civil Grand Jury completed its inspection of county detention centers and has released its report on the following detention facilities:
The Main Jail, Blaine street women’s facility, Rountree detention facility, the court holding facility and conservation camp number 45 in Ben Lomond.
The report detailed many findings but the main issues seem to be; drugs continuing to enter the jails undetected.
Over crowding with no long term solution at the main jail. And… ongoing staff shortages.
Among the recommendations the grand jury made are investing in body scanning equipment to detect drugs coming into the facility.
