A mountain lion WAS sightED NEAR the creek area of Christmas Hill Park. AT ABOUT 12:15 P-M POLICE and City of Gilroy Parks staff PERFORMED A thorough search of the area. DESPITE the LACK OF ADDITIONAL SIGHTINGS, ALERTS have been MADE TO RESIDENTS in the vicinity of the park and area schools.

The public is reminded That when close to mountain lion habitat:
■ Do not hike alone, go in groups
■ Keep children close.
■ Do not approach a mountain lion.
■ Do not run from a lion, or crouch down or bend over.
■ appear bigger. Rise your arms, open your jacket, pick up small children, throw stones, branches without crouching or turning your back.
■ Fight back if attacked. Try to keep standing and face the
attacking animal.
