Laura Paz posted the following on FaceBook last night….
“It is with a very heavy heart my family is announcing the closing of their long-standing restaurant on the Santa Cruz Wharf. Gilda’s Restaurant will not re-open for business. The Stagnaro Family wishes to thank all staff and patrons for their loyalty and friendship over the years.
Cottardo Stagnaro started selling his daily catch of fresh fish from a fish box in 1879. The Stagnaro Family started its first restaurant on the wharf in 1930. In the ensuing years, the Stagnaro Family continued to thrive in the fishing industry, as well as developing the restaurant business. The fishing business plans to stay functioning.
