The Santa Clara County District Attorney’s office has released a 26-page report about the Gilroy Garlic Festival Shooting, exonerating the officers. Although the shooting is still being investigated by the F-B-I and the Gilroy Police Department, the Santa Clara County D-A’s report indicated that the officers use of deadly force against Santino Legan was valid. Although officer’s did shoot Legan after he fired 36 rounds (hitting 20 people, and killing 3), it was ultimately determined that after he was wounded by officers, Legan turned his gun on himself and killed himself.
The 3 festival go-ers that Legan shot and killed were 6 year-old Stephen Romero, 13 year-old Keyla Salazar, and 25 year-old Trevor Irby. 17 other people suffered a range of injuries in that July 28th shooting.
