Based on the newly revised list (released by the court facilities advisory committee for the state), Greenfield has lost ground in its bid to get a long-promised court house built in south Monterey county. The south county area has been without a courthouse since King City shuttered theirs in 2013, due to safety concerns. City leaders in the southern portion of the county say the need is so great there that Greenfield has pledged 10 million dollars (which is about a 3rd of the courthouse project’s cost) toward the construction. The proposal for the $27 million Greenfield courthouse, to replace the shuttered king city facility, remained in the 3rd tier category, but fell to the 52nd slot overall….in the statewide list.
