In state news…
Gov. Gavin Newsom has asked for an investigation into why California’s gasoline prices are so high.
The California Energy Commission says the state’s drivers are paying higher prices – up to $1 more per gallon — than the rest of the county. According to the report this is simply because “California’s retail gasoline outlets are charging higher prices.”
On Monday, Newsom asked Attorney General Xavier Becerra to conduct the probe. Newsom said the Energy Commission report suggests that big oil companies are overcharging customers. The commission says he has no evidence of false advertising and price fixing.
