A shelter-in-place was issued this morning after a gas leak was reported in Watsonville. Reportedly a heavy equipment operator, who was demolishing buildings at a vacant aluminum plant near the intersection of West Beach and Lee Road, broke the gas main when he was tearing down a wall. Roads in the area were closed for a while, and motorists were asked to avoid the area.
