Parks officials and local advocate groups have reached an agreement to keep garrapata state park open to the public for at least another year. The park (south of carmel) was on the list of state parks slated for closure on july 1st. the agreement involves several groups, including the monterey peninsula regional park district, the big sur land trust, and friends of garrapata. Meanwhile, in santa cruz county, twin lakes state beach is expected to remain open, after state parks officials announced that maintenance crews would continue to clean the beach and restrooms, (although it will be on a more limited schedule).
