The Guinness Book of World Records has certified the Gilroy Garlic Festival as the largest in the world. Representatives from Guinness determined that Gilroy’s festival was by far the largest garlic event while they were doing research on a European garlic festival claiming to be the biggest festival. The Guinness Book of World Records official certification is for the 2011 Gilroy Garlic Festival in which 109,067 people attended the three day event.
