A fundraiser was held yesterday to support a Salinas couple and their infant son. That’s because 7 month-old JT Borofka is just 1 of 60 people in the world to be diagnosed with Triosephosphate Isomerase Deficiency (also know as TPI). This is the first known case of the life-threatening disease in California. Later this month, JT will be admitted to Stanford Hospital, although he’s been going there weekly to get his blood drawn.
