Former santa cruz police chief steve belcher has been appointed as the interim police chief, for the city of bell. Belcher retired from the Santa cruz police department in 2003, and has been running a private security firm in santa cruz, with 2-other local, retired police chiefs. The 62-year-old has also served as interim chief for the police departments of east palo alto, marina, and soledad. The city of bell is recovering from a severe financial crisis, brought on in part by alleged corruption by city officials.
