ON WEDNESDAY, THE CITY COUNCIL OF MONTEREY APPROVED A POSSIBLE SALE OF 100-PLUS ACRES OF CITY LAND ON THE FORMER FORT ORD, FOR COMMERCIAL DEVELOPMENT. MEMBERS OF CITY PLANNING WILL PREPARE AN EXCLUSIVE NEGOTIATING AGREEMENT WITH DONALD B. OROZCO DEVELOPMENT COMPANY. OFFICE SPACE AND AUTO-TOURISM VENUES ARE A FEW OF THE TYPES OF BUSINESSES EXPECTED TO CREATE 2 THOUSAND PERMANENT jOBS, IN ADDITION TO 12 HUNDRED CONSTRUCTION JOBS. THE CITY STANDS TO GAIN TWO –POINT-FIVE MILLION DOLLARS IN REVENUE. THIS IS THE FIRST STEP IN A VERY LONG PROCESS, WHICH IS NOT SCHEDULED TO BEGIN FOR AT LEAST THREE YEARS.
