A lack of winter shelter for the homeless is causing a repopulation of the Ross camp in downtown santa cruz.
Recently, tents have been popping up at the former homeless encampment behind the Ross store and witnesses say people are hopping the fence and making themselves at home.
A spokesperson for the campers says this time around there are rules like; no drugs and alcohol. She added that since the v-f-w building is not available at this time… they’re seeking winter shelter.
Meanwhile Santa Cruz police say they’ve gotten some calls about the tents and have visited the camp… but so far no action.
