Two-tons of poultry has been donated to the Santa Cruz County food bank through a partnership between New Leaf Community Markets and MBA Poultry. The donation was made possible through MBA Poultry’s Smart Giving Program, a program that gives one pound of Smart Chicken to a local food bank for every ten pounds of chicken purchased by New Leaf customers during November. So far, a total of 16.7 tons of poultry has been donated by New Leaf since 2006. The nearly 4 tons of poultry delivered last week to multiple area Food Banks, is a 12% increase over last year.
