A Santa Cruz neighborhood has officially become the first certified “Firewise” area in the county. The designation means that the residents of Prospect Heights are certified to work with the Santa Cruz Fire Department ( and each other) to protect their homes from fire. It took 2 years of working together (to clean-up the neighborhood) to get the certification from the National Fire Protection Association.
