Seaside and Marina are the 2 coastal cities in Monterey county that permit safe and sane fireworks sales. Such fireworks are also permitted in the inland cities of Salinas Gonzales, Soledad, Greenfield and King City. It is illegal to sell, transport or use fireworks that do not have the “Safe And Sane” seal. Punishments vary, but range as high as $50,000 fines, as well as time behind bars. People who light, or possess, illegal fireworks will face a $2,500 fine as well as the tenants or owners of the property where the illegal fireworks are being lit.
