Fireworks are on sale now in Salinas. Back in 2015, the Salinas city council voted to ban fireworks entirely. Last year they reversed that. This year there are 18 stands where safe and sane fireworks are being sold. Every available firefighter and police officer is expected to be working on july 4th, and there are definitely fire concerns, because the extended wet winter has led to lots of dried out grass and undergrowth which catches fire easily.
