A SMALL FIRE WAS REPORTEDLY STARTED, IN THE
METAL SHOP AREA, OF SALINAS HIGH SCHOOL JUST
BEFORE NOON TODAY (WEDNESDAY). STUDENTS
WERE WORKING ON THEIR PROJECTS IN THE METAL
SHOP, AND CUTTING SHEET METAL WITH A TORCH,
WHEN THE FIRE BROKE OUT. PART OF THE
SCHOOL WAS EVACUATED, NO ONE WAS INJURED,
AND THE FIRE WAS CONTAINED TO THE WORKSHOP
AREA. IT IS BELIEVED AT THIS TIME THAT
MALFUNCTIONING EQUIPMENT IS TO BLAME.
