Wildlife officials are reporting hundreds of dead fish have been found in Watsonville Slough, following the 4-day-blaze at the Apple Gower’s Ice and Cold Storage Facility. That fire destroyed the West Beach Street Facility, which housed apples and products for Martinelli’s. Nobody was reported injured in the fire, which was contained on Friday afternoon, and extinguished on Saturday night. The fish are believed to have died from a combination of factors, including the heat from the fire, and the foam used by firefighters to battle the flames.
