Federal officials have approved Monterey county’s request for emergency funding, to cover costs related to damage caused by march’s tsunami surge. Monterey becomes the 3rd-county approved by FEMA to receive funds, along with Del Norte and Santa Cruz Counties. President Obama declared the incident a major disaster, allowing the federal government to cover 75-percent of clean-up, and repair work.
