Although a Federal District Judge wants city leaders in Santa Cruz to continue to work with homeless advocates, regarding the large unsanctioned homeless encampment in San Lorenzo Park…..she appears ready to let the city leaders temporarily relocate those camped out in the Benchlands…..so that the Benchlands can be turned into a city-sanctioned homeless encampment. The next hearing on this case is set for April 27th, and at that time Federal District Judge Susan Van Keulen said she’ll want an update on vaccination availability for the local homeless population.
