February 17, 2016: Salinas Police Investigating Two Separate Armed Robberies

(08:59) SALINAS – Police are investigating two separate armed robberies that occurred in Salinas Tuesday night. The first incident occurred around 6 p.m. at the McDonald’s on North Main Street. The robber was described as a Hispanic male adult, wearing blue jeans, white tennis shoes and a dark gray sweatshirt. He was armed with a handgun and fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash. The second robbery was reported around 10:30 p.m. at a residence on the 13000 block of Jackson Street. Officials say an 83-year-old woman was pulling into her garage when she was approached by a man wearing dark clothing and a face mask. He took the victim’s purse at gunpoint. The woman was not injured. Anyone with information on either robbery is urged to contact Salinas police. (S.G.)
