AN INVESTIGATION OF AN ATTEMPTED MURDER AND CARJACKING LANDED A FATHER AND SON IN THE SANTA CRUZ COUNTY JAIL. AT ABOUT 6:50 P-M ON WEDNESDAY, SANTA CRUZ POLICE RESPONDED TO REPORTS OF A BOTCHED CARJACKING ON THE 1-HUNDRED BLOCK OF BIXBY STREET. UPON INTERVIEWING THE VICTIMS THEY LEARNED THAT THE SUSPECT HAD PULLED THE TRIGGER OF A REVOLVER WHILE POINTED AT THE CHEST OF THE HUSBAND OF A 4 MEMBER FAMILY. THE SUSPECT FLED WHEN THE GUN DIDN’T FIRE, 39 YEAR OLD JOHN THOMAS JR. WAS ARRESTED ON OCEAN STREET A SHORT TIME LATER, AND A REVOLVER LOADED WITH THE WRONG AMMO WAS RECOVERED. THE NEXT DAY WHILE DETECTIVES WERE SEARCHING THE SUSPECTS HOUSE HIS SON 21 YEAR OLD BRANDON THOMAS, A KNOWN GANG MEMBER SHOWED UP AND WAS ARRESTED WITH GANG ENHANCEMENTS FOR BEING ARMED WITH A LOADED PISTOL.
