Gonzales farmworkers spent two days on strike, and today votes will be tallied to reveal whether or not they will now be represented by the United Farm Workers union. More than 200 employees of the Amaral Ranches Inc. marched outside of the Agricultural Labor Relations Board office in Salinas, carrying signs and chanting. Inside the building an Amaral Ranches manager met to discuss the election with union coordinators and agricultural labor representatives. The workers are seeking help from the United Farm Workers union to negotiate for wage raises, medical coverage, and better equipment.
