The family of Alex Beletsis, who died after a 2018 hazing incident at a U-C-S-C fraternity has filed a wrongful death lawsuit.
Named are the national fraternity, the UCSC chapter, chapter members and the housing operation.
The lawsuit says Beletsis was required to participate in the hazing. It says he had to drink large amounts of multiple types of alcohol and became extremely inebriated. He was also given drugs.
Beletsis later fell from a second-floor bathroom and was hospitalized for 18-days before life-support was removed.
In May, the fraternity was dismissed after an investigation. No word on where or when the lawsuit will be heard.
