The san benito county sheriff’s department is planning to double deputies’ security presence at area football games. The additional enforcement will be funded by grant money. The plan comes after a football player on san benito high school’s team was randomly assaulted after the game on Friday. The 5-suspects who are believed to have assaulted the teen were arrested. Authorities believe the attack was meant to promote gang-interests, (although the victim was chosen randomly, and is not in a gang). He was beaten as he exited the team’s locker room at san benito high. The suspects are not students at the school.
