The principal of everett alvarez high school in salinas, has been removed from his duties. Darin hershberger was re-assigned as the director of special education for the salinas union high school district. District officials are reviewing operations at the school, reportedly scrutinizing the rental of school space to community groups, as well as an incident at a recent football game. That incident involved the arrest of the father of the school’s quarterback, for carrying a concealed weapon. since then, the quarterback, michael turner has been transferred, and suspended from football. 33-year-old ronald turner was arraigned yesterday, on the weapons charges, and remains jailed. Blanca baltazar will serve as acting principal.
