CALIFORNIA HEALTH OFFICIALS HAVE REPORTED THE STATE’S FIRST CONFIRMED CASES OF THE ENTEROVIRUS. AN OUTBREAK OF THE RESPIRATORY ILLNESS WAS REPORTED IN THE MIDWEST LAST MONTH. 4 CONFIRMED CASES WERE REPORTED IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA THIS WEEK. SYMPTOMS OF D68 INCLUDE FEVER, RUNNY NOSE, SNEEZING, COUGH, AND BODY AND MUSCLE ACHES. THERE IS NO SPECIFIC TREATMENT OR VACCINE FOR THE ENTEROVIRUS. TESTING ON ADDITIONAL SAMPLES TAKEN FROM CALIFORNIA PATIENTS IS UNDERWAY.
