A rise in Driver vs. Pedestrian incidents is forcing the CHP in Santa Cruz County to take to the streets to find dangerous drivers. Starting today the CHP will be monitoring crosswalks up and down Soquel Drive in Aptos and Santa Cruz. They’ll be looking for drivers who are not yielding to pedestrians in marked crosswalks, while also making sure those crossing the street are obeying the rules of the road. This operation is happening because of recent events over the last six months. The extra enforcement is funded by the national highway traffic safety administration.
