Emergency Funding to be Used for Smart Meter- 4/03/15 10:00 M.K.

California transportation officials will use nearly $30 million of emergency funding to install smart sprinklers on state property. Smart sprinklers have helped decrease water use by 50 percent, by automatically adjusting to weather conditions, soil moisture and broken pipes. In areas of the state suffering from the worst drought conditions, Caltrans has completely shut off irrigation and is working to cut state water use by 50 percent.
