Drugs and alcohol were not factors that caused a double-fatal collision between an Amtrak train and a small truck last month at a Monterey County train crossing. Toxicology results eliminated the 2 as possible factors of the January 29th collision that killed Fresno residents 48-year old Steven Russell and 50-year old Priscilla Flores at the Elkhorn Slough crossing. The couple suffered fatal injuries after their pickup was hit at around 1:15 p.m. by a passenger train traveling about 50 mph at a railroad crossing at Kirby Park off Elkhorn Road.
