ELEPHANT SEALS 1/31/19 CI 8:30A

There’s one group that benefited from the government shutdown: elephant seals.

About 60 adult seals with pups took over a beach at Point Reyes in Marin County, knocked down a fence and moved into the parking lot all because there were no workers at Point Reyes to shoo them away.

Rangers at Point Reyes say they’re going to leave the seals alone because they are nursing pups right now.
