Education Rallies 05/09/11 12:30a.m. TDH

Public educators and their supporters are rallying around the state this week, to draw attention to cuts being made to education.   As part of the so-called “state of emergency” campaign, the Monterey county education coalition has planned 2-rallies on Monday, in Salinas and Monterey.  Both rallies are scheduled to be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.   in Salinas, public education supporters will gather at Natividad Creek Park, (on Constitution Boulevard and Freedom Parkway).   In Monterey, protesters will gather in front of colton hall, which is located at 351 Pacific Street.   California has cut 20-billion dollars from public education in the last 3-years, and lawmakers are considering cutting another 4-billion dollars this year.
