A Watsonville man accused of being drunk when he crashed his car on highway-183 has been ordered to stand trial for murder. 29-year-old melquiadez mota Gomez was already on probation for D-U-I, when he crashed into another vehicle on September 25th. Gomez was reportedly passing cars on the shoulder and in the opposing lane. That’s when he struck a vehicle being driven by salinas resident Gustavo quintero. The 44-year-old died at the scene. Prosecutors in monterey county are more frequently pursuing murder charges against drunk drivers whose accidents cause death.
