Donations Sought to House Mentally Ill 11-12-20 14:34 DC

Fundraising is taking place to begin the construction of affordable housing for adults with mental illness in Monterey County.

Monterey County Gives’ Big Idea plans to renovate a house in Salinas into three stories of studio apartments.

They said the plan is to have support services – such as case management and mental health and peer support – provided by on-site counselors, peer staff, and a resident manager.

Groundbreaking and the beginning of construction are scheduled for early 2021, and it is expected to be finished by early 2022.

Donations can be made through the annual MCGIVES campaign.
