The Dole Food Company will be closing its Watsonville facility. Dole, the largest marketer of produce in the world, is more than 1 billion dollars in debt and is trimming operations as the company prepares for public offering. More than 400 workers will be layed off at the Watsonville facility as early as the end of October.
