THE SALINAS POLICE DEPARTMENT IS GETTING HELP FROM THE D-M-V. THE HELP COMES IN THE FORM OF A HOT LIST. EVERY 2 WEEKS STARTING ON MARCH 28TH THE DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLES HAS BEEN SENDING THE SALINAS POLICE A LIST. THE LIST CONTAINS THE NAMES, ADDRESSES, AND VEHICLE TYPES OF AREA RESIDENTS WITH 2 OR MORE D-U-I CONVICTIONS AND WHOSE LICENSES ARE UNDER SUSPENSION. POLICE WILL THEN PERFORM STAKE OUTS IN AN ATTEMPT TO GET THE ROUGHLY 75 PERCENT OF D-U-I SUSPENDED DRIVERS WHO CONTINUE DRIVE ANYWAY.
