Turning salt water into fresh water is no easy feat but the u-s department of energy is providing 100-million dollars to make desalinization easier and cheaper.
19-universities around the country, including Stanford, Berkeley and UCLA will partner with private industry to make ocean water and waste water drinkable.
Lawrence-Berkeley laboratory in Livermore will lead the study.
